How to Get Organized Before Your Newborn Arrives

Preparing for a newborn is an exciting and overwhelming time. As you get ready to welcome your little one into your home, one of the best ways to reduce stress is by getting organized ahead of time. By putting some thought into the layout and function of your space, you can create a calm and efficient environment for both you and your baby. Here are some tips from Simply Dare to help you organize your home before your newborn arrives.

🤍Create a Baby-Friendly Space – One of the first things to do is designate a specific area for your baby. This could be a nursery, a corner of your bedroom, or a separate room entirely. Ensure this space is free from clutter, with enough room for the essentials.. Make sure the crib is set up well in advance, and the changing table is stocked with all the items you will need, like wipes, creams, and diapers. Keep these items within easy reach to save time during late-night feedings or diaper changes

🤍Organize Baby Clothes – Newborns grow quickly, so it’s important to keep their clothes organized by size. Consider using drawer dividers or closet dividers to store baby clothes in a way that’s easy to access. Label by size such as  “0-3 months,” “3-6 months or season to make it simple to find what you need. This will make dressing your baby a lot easier and keep your baby’s clothes from piling up in every corner of the room.

🤍Stock Up on Essentials – Before your baby arrives, create an inventory of essential items and make sure you have everything you need. This includes diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, baby toiletries, and any other must-have items for your baby’s first few months. By organizing these supplies in a designated storage area (such as a cabinet or a dresser drawer), you can avoid the stress of scrambling to find them when you need them most. Group similar items together to make them easy to grab.

🤍 Prepare a Feeding Station – Whether you plan to breastfeed or bottle-feed, organizing a feeding station is crucial. Set up a space near your nursing chair or wherever you plan to spend most of your feeding time. Stock it with necessary supplies like burp cloths, nursing pads, bottles, formula (if needed), and a water bottle for yourself. Having everything within reach will help ensure that your feeding time runs smoothly and efficiently. We love using these portable rolling carts that can easily be transferred to different rooms throughout the house!

🤍Organize Baby Gear – You’ll likely have various baby gear items such as a stroller, car seat, baby carrier, swing, or bouncer. Make sure these items are organized and ready to go well before your baby arrives. Store them in an easily accessible location, and double-check that everything is in working order.

🤍 Declutter Your Home – Having a newborn means your home will quickly fill up with baby toys, clothes, and gear. Before the baby arrives, it’s a good idea to do a thorough decluttering of your home. Go through common areas, bedrooms, and storage spaces to clear out anything you no longer need. This will not only make your home feel more spacious, but it will also give you the mental clarity you need to focus on your baby once they arrive.

Getting organized before your newborn arrives is all about setting up a calm and functional space that makes your life easier. From setting up a baby-friendly nursery to organizing clothes and feeding supplies, small steps toward organization can make a big difference in your overall stress levels. With a little preparation and planning, you’ll be ready to embrace the adventure of parenthood with a home that supports both you and your growing family.
